The Apocalyptic Visions of Ezekiel

"The burden of a prophet’s power
Fell on me in that fearful hour …"
(Ezekiel; John Greenleaf Whittier)

Among the prophets of the Old Testament, Ezekiel’s place is indeed unique. His messages are bizarre and powerful. He is a seer of strange and dire apocalyptic visions, visions of judgment, but also hope through the darkness. Living at one of the most pivotal periods in world history and the history of Israel, he proclaimed the word of God with arresting imagery and otherworldly insight. Though grossly under-appreciated today, he remains strong medicine for those with ears to hear.
